WHY WE COLLECT CUSTOMER INFORMATION
Olson Timber Buildings collects customer information to communicate with our customers about our brand, products, services, and promotions as well as to facilitate purchases from our website. We collect information including your name, e-mail and telephone number that you provide to us when you register, request a quote or make a purchase. We also monitor site use and traffic patterns to improve our website design and the products and services we offer. Olson Timber Buildings recognises that it must maintain and use customer information responsibly.
WHAT OTHER INFORMATION DO YOU COLLECT?
We collect three types of information about you.
- When you complete a website contact form or request a quote, we collect your contact details including your name, email and telephone number.
- If you opt-in to receive further information, offers and promotions from us either by email or post, we collect and store your contact details relevant to the way you have asked to be contacted
Very occasionally we may offer a joint marketing campaign with a trusted partner and the campaign will require the sharing of some data. If this is the case you will be asked for consent and the use of the data will be explained.
We do not hold credit or debit card details for you, these are processed by card processing companies or Paypal. If you do pass card information over the phone for a telephone order please note it will be immediately destroyed after entry into the card machine.
If you apply for any finance or credit with one of our credit partners, your details, including your name, contact details and address will be passed to them, along with the details of your purchase in order to complete your application. The finance or credit provider will process your personal information and data in accordance with their own data and privacy policies and they are responsible for providing you with this information. HOW LONG DO YOU HOLD PERSONAL DATA?
Data collected during a transaction or as part of a quote will be held for no more than 6 years from the end of the company’s last financial year. This is to comply with HMRC accounting rules. Information collected during a marketing sign up will be held until you request to be removed from our database. You can at any time do this after sign up by either using the email opt out at the bottom of an email or by contacting us here.
IS MY PERSONAL INFORMATION SAFE?
Olson Timber Buildings utilises the latest Secure Server Software (SSL) and is Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliant to ensure that all personal information remains private and secure. Olson Timber Buildings will not rent or sell your e-mail address or personal details for any reason. We treat customer confidentiality with the highest priority.
By registering your information with us, you consent to Olson Timber Buildings sending correspondence regarding the website, our products and services to the e-mail address that you have registered. If you have registered to receive email newsletters from us, you can remove your email address from our list at any time by using the links in the emails we send you to log onto your account to change your preferences. Alternatively, you may contact us to request removal. Please include your e-mail address along with your full name and we will remove you from our mailing list. Please allow 7 working days for the full removal process to take place. Olson Timber Buildings complies with the standards, procedures and requirements detailed in the Data Protection Act.
SAFEGUARDING YOUR PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION
We will only collect personally identifiable information to the extent deemed reasonably necessary to serve you in view of our legitimate business purposes as set out above, and we will use our best endeavours to maintain appropriate safeguards to ensure the security, integrity and privacy of the information you have provided us with. When you place an order or access your account information, we use a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption which encrypts your information before it is sent to us to protect it from unauthorised use. In addition, we will take reasonable steps to ensure those third-party business partners' to whom we transfer any data will provide sufficient protection of that personal information.
Using cookies for this purpose limits the number of times you see an advertisement as well as helping us measure the effectiveness of any advertising campaign.
